June 2008
Our volunteers are currently working on a number of projects, some almost
completed and others awaiting the enormous task of proof-reading and
correction.
BOER WAR - "ALL BUT ONE CAME HOME"
We have collected and compiled letters sent home by our local boys during
the Boer War 1899-1903. This book will be launched on
Sunday July 20th with a Remembrance Service at 1.30pm at the monument in
front of the Memorial Hall in Kelly St.
The official launch will then take place in the hall supper room.
This fascinating 136 page book, which includes many photos, will sell for
$20.00 plus packing & post where required.
MOUNT HOPE STATION
The fascinating story of Mount Hope Station is almost ready to go to the
printer.
CEMETERY BOOK
This publication of marked and unmarked graves with references to each is
almost ready to be proof-read.
CEMETERY CD
A graphic CD of the headstones at the Durham Ox, Mitiamo and Pyramid Hill
cemeteries has been completed and is available for purchase at $55.00 plus
postage.
ALL THINGS MEDICAL
A comprehensive history of the health service in Pyramid Hill -
hospitals, doctors, nurses and hospital domestic staff, all derived
from The Pyramid Hill Advertiser. There is a section on non-fatal
accidents including snake and spider bites. The district fatalities
are covered in our publication "Profiles of our Past."
PROPERTIES BOUGHT & SOLD
We are compiling a list of properties, names and allotment numbers, of
properties to change hands from 1890 onwards. Transferred from
microfilm of The Pyramid Hill Advertiser our volunteers have reached 1905
- it is a daunting task! |
