The Dash
Our latest publication "Mt Hope Station, The Squatting Era"
has been compiled by Mr Cliff Spowart and covers the years 1845 to
1905.
In his introduction Cliff writes........
As one travels across the plains of Northern Victoria, the most
conspicuous feature to break the level horizon is the granite
outcrop known as Mt Hope, which boasts a height of 202mtrs above sea
level. This was the headquarters of one of the most successful
and long-lasting of the sheep and cattle stations that spread out
across south-eastern Australia during the squatting era. The
following pages record a little of the history of that
enterprise..........
